What is BIMI?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an email standard that lets organizations display their brand logo next to authenticated emails in supporting inboxes like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Apple Mail.

How BIMI Works

BIMI requires your domain to have DMARC enforcement (p=quarantine or p=reject) as a prerequisite. Once your email authentication is in place, you publish a BIMI DNS record that points to your brand's SVG logo. Mailbox providers then display this logo alongside your emails.

BIMI Record Example

default._bimi.yourdomain.com IN TXT "v=BIMI1; l=https://yourdomain.com/logo.svg; a=https://yourdomain.com/vmc.pem"

Prerequisites for BIMI

DMARC at enforcement level

Your domain must have p=quarantine or p=reject with 100% coverage.

SVG Tiny PS logo

Your logo must be in SVG Tiny Portable/Secure format — a specific SVG profile required by BIMI.

VMC (optional but recommended)

A Verified Mark Certificate from a certificate authority provides the strongest verification and is required by some mailbox providers.
